The year 2020 has brought many changes to how businesses operate. MSPs had to adapt quickly, modifying their service delivery methods to continue effectively serving and securing their customers. An MSP’s RMM tool can play a critical role in how well MSPs can adapt to these changes.
That’s why we were so excited to learn that Barracuda MSP was named Vendor of the Year in the PSA/RMM category at this year’s Innovation Awards by Channel Partner Insight. We recently caught up with Brian Babineau, SVP & GM of Barracuda MSP, to speak with him on what this award means for Barracuda MSP and his views on the future of Barracuda’s RMM tool.
Q&A with Brian Babineau
Q: What does it mean to you to win the PSA/RMM Vendor of the Year award?
It’s an honor to be recognized as Vendor of the Year in the PSA/RMM space. The RMM is the foundation for an MSP and it can significantly influence the value an MSP can bring to their customers. This is especially true in today’s business climate. In a volatile cyberthreat landscape, and given the expansion of the remote workforce effectively shifting (or maybe even eliminating) the perimeter, MSPs need to become ‘security-centric’ to be successful.
Barracuda MSP’s Managed Workplace RMM empowers them to do so. This award validates our focus to delivering a security-centric RMM and we will continue to innovate the tool to make it easier for MSPs to deliver security services that improves the security postures of their clients, and to have an RMM that complements their technology stack.
Q: In your opinion, why do you think Barracuda MSP stood out from your competition to win this award?
I believe a number of factors led Barracuda to win this award. We entered the RMM vendor market in 2019 when we acquired Managed Workplace, which was one of the first RMM in the market.
Barracuda has over 15 years of experience serving the MSP market. By combining the powerful RMM with Barracuda’s rich security portfolio, we are aiding MSPs with a solution that puts security at the forefront. Cybersecurity is crucial for SMBs and it is important for MSPs to deliver security services easily and efficiently.
Barracuda MSP has been working closely with our global partners to get input to how we can continue to improve our offering of RMM to them. In the past year, we have added several integrations with Barracuda’s security solutions and features, including automated third-party patch management, and innovated our Site Security Assessment. We also introduced and innovated on a data warehouse that allows our partners to use the data gathered by Managed Workplace to generate informative reports to better understand their customers’ environment, ensuring that MSPs can provide value-added services to their customers, for no additional cost. These are just some of the examples of the benefits we hear from our partners.
Q: Can you share some of the upcoming Managed Workplace RMM innovations coming from Barracuda MSP?
We will continue to innovate Managed Workplace RMM as a foundation from which MSPs can drive their security service offerings, in a number of ways.
One of the capabilities that makes Managed Workplace so strong is its security assessment functionality. This enables MSPs to better understand where customers’ security vulnerabilities lie and which security services should be applied to help improve their security posture. The idea is that MSPs conduct those assessments regularly which not only helps them better protect their customers, but it helps them to grow their business and better demonstrate the value of their services via the security improvements made over time. We will continue to enhance this security assessment capabilities to ensure that it is providing maximum value to both the MSP and their customers.
Additionally, we will continue with integrating Managed Workplace RMM with best-in-class security solutions. This includes:
-
- Data protection solutions to further protect customers’ data. If your customers are attacked, you can easily revert to the previous version, prior to when the attack occurred, reducing the downtime the attack caused,
- Distribution of detection and response technologies to better protect critical endpoints, and,
- Zero Trust Access for fully managed endpoints.
To further assist MSPs enhance their security service offerings, we will be working on ways to help MSPs streamline their service delivery through Managed Workplace RMM with service offerings that can help them go-to-market faster, with less resources.
Thank you, Brian, for your time. At Barracuda MSP, we are determined to partner with MSPs to help them create service offerings, deliver profitable services, and demonstrate value to customers. Visit us at barracudamsp.com to learn more about Managed Workplace RMM and our other offerings for MSPs.
