ChatGPT

As part of our 2-part series on ChatGPT for MSP marketing, this second entry highlights future predictions of how ChatGPT will continue to unfold for MSPs looking to implement the tool into their marketing strategy. In case you missed part one, you can read it here.

I don’t have a crystal ball telling me the future. But, based on what I’ve seen, I have a few predictions for how ChatGPT will impact the managed service provider (MSP) marketing space.

We’ll start to see data on AI-generated marketing content

ChatGPT does a great job writing general knowledge-type content, and it has arguably had the biggest impact on how marketing content is written. This includes SEO-focused blog posts, guides, website copy, etc. However, since SEO and content marketing are long-game strategies, we didn’t see much data on how AI-generated content actually performs.

Many MSPs used ChatGPT to write all their company blog posts last year. As the “shiny new object” syndrome fades in 2024, we’ll likely see exactly how well, or not well, this type of content ranks on search engines and boosts the credibility of MSP websites.

The standards of copywriting will be much higher

ChatGPT can do a lot of heavy lifting in the writing department. It produces decent content on its own, provided you give it a good, detailed prompt. The result is that the bar for “good quality” marketing content got much higher.

Here’s the thing about marketing content:

There will always be a need for A-level content in the business world. This means there will always be a need for A-level copywriters. The nature of how A-level content gets created is now different.

Throughout 2023, we saw most of the lower-level content writers get phased out. On the flip side, we saw skilled copywriters completely revamp their workflow to use ChatGPT to work smarter.

In 2024, the definition of an “A-level” copywriter goes beyond just writing. The best copywriters these days are both writers and AI-prompting engineers. They’ve figured out how to leverage AI to take their game to the next level.

Can ChatGPT solve ALL your marketing bottlenecks?

ChatGPT can solve a lot of your marketing bottlenecks, specifically in the content department. However, it can’t do it all for you. Like any other tool, you need someone who knows what they’re doing pulling the strings and making sure it hits the mark.

Think about AI in marketing like a Roomba vacuum. The Roomba will run on autopilot all day long. But what happens when the dog vomits on the floor or your toddler spills soup all over the rug?

If there isn’t a capable person there to intervene, the Roomba will spread the mess all over your home. The same is true for your marketing strategy. AI tools can help you work more efficiently – and they do some things better than others – but at the end of the day, they are just tools.

Are you wondering how ChatGPT can be used in your MSP marketing strategy? I can help you. We’ve been using this tool since the day it came out and we can show you how to use it to improve your results. Send me a message on LinkedIn.
