The modern workforce is becoming more mobile. Often, businesses have remote workers and road warriors with laptops who can connect any time, at any place. Unsurprisingly, this poses security challenges for MSPs tasked with protecting customers who use these devices. Sure, MSPs can apply antivirus and keep the devices up-to-date with security patches through their RMM to enhance security, but they are unable to protect these devices from visiting disreputable websites that have bad reputation or with embedded malicious URLs.
In a recent study, it was identified that approximately 40 percent of malicious URLs have been found on good domains. This means that even when visiting reputable websites, phishing, malvertising, drive-by downloads, and ransomware threats can still be delivered to these mobile devices.
To ensure MSPs can create a managed security service offering that is addresses these risks, but is easy to deliver to their customers, we have integrated our Barracuda RMM remote monitoring and management tool with Barracuda Content Shield, a cloud managed and provisioned web security solution, for a single-pane-of-glass management experience.
What is Barracuda Content Shield?
Barracuda Content Shield is a robust content filtering solution, powered by Barracuda’s rich threat intelligence from multiple vectors – email, web, and network. With Content Shield, MSPs can enhance their web security services, provide visibility into web traffic both on and off network, and then demonstrate the number of threats the service has prevented. It includes an antivirus software to protect against malicious threats before it reaches customers’ endpoints.
Why is this integration beneficial to MSPs?
Now integrated with Barracuda RMM, MSPs who are on their RMM dashboard to monitor and manage their customers’ can also gain at-a-glance visibility into threats prevented by Barracuda Content Shield. This reduces the time spent by MSP technicians on this task and eliminates the need to switch between different dashboards to access the information. In addition, MSPs can deploy Content Shield Plus, an agent-based DNS and URL filtering to remote users, regardless of their location.
